1 day Tokyo Itinerary

If you only have one day to spend in Tokyo, not including transfers to and from the airport, then this full packed itinerary has been designed to visit the well known tourist spots while considering the time to travel between the destinations with few train transfers.

Embark on a one-day journey through Tokyo’s top tourist spots. Begin in Ueno to explore Ueno Park and visit the Ameyoko Shopping Street. Travel 10 minutes to Asakusa for Senso-ji Temple and Nakamise Shopping Street and the nearby Tokyo Sky Tree. From here, you can choose between Akihabara or Diver City then have lunch after shopping at Ginza or proceed to Tsukiji Outer Market for food. From Ginza, travel to Tokyo Tower then Shibuya Scramble Crossing and Hachiko Statue. Conclude in Shinjuku and Ikebukuro famous for their night life and bars.

Tokyo 1 day Itinerary

For this 1 day itinerary, it is best to use an IC Card for the transporation since you will be moving to different train lines and different train operators. A 1 day subway pass or JR pass is not practical for this.

5:30 AM	Ueno	Start the day at Ueno, known for its park, museums, and zoo. Note the Museum and Zoo is closed at this time. You can also visit Ameyoko Shopping Street but some shops may be closed at this time.	2 hours	JR Yamanote Line
7:30 AM	Asakusa	Take the Ginza Line from Ueno to Asakusa. Visit the historic Senso-ji Temple and explore Nakamise Shopping Street.	1.5 hours	Ginza Line	10 mins
9:00 AM	Tokyo Sky Tree	From Asakusa, you can walk towards Tokyo Sky Tree or ride the train towards Oshiage (Sky Tree) to save 10-20 minutes.	1.5 hours	Tobu Skytree Line	10 mins
10:30 AM	Akihabara or Diver City	From Tokyo Skytree, ride the train to Akihabara and explore Akihabara Electric Town famous for the Anime Stores and Maid Cafe. You can skip this and proceed to Odaiba / Diver City and visit the Giant Gundam, Decks Beach and Statue of Liberty. The rainbow bridge can also be seen from here.	2 hours		20 mins
12:30 PM	Lunch Break	Take a break and enjoy a delicious lunch or grab a quick snack at a convenience store and head to Ginza. Tsukiji Outer Market is near Ginza.	1 hour
1:30 PM	Ginza / Tsukiji Outer Market	Explore the upscale shopping district of Ginza. Stroll along Chuo Dori street, browse high-end boutiques, and visit department stores for a luxurious shopping experience.	2 hours		10 mins
3:30 PM	Tokyo Tower	Visit the iconic Tokyo Tower. Take in the breathtaking views from the observation deck and explore the surrounding area. If you have visited the observation deck in Tokyo Sky Tree, you can skip going up the skydeck in Tokyo Tower.	1 hour		10 mins
5:30 PM	Shibuya	Head to Shibuya and experience the iconic Shibuya Scramble Crossing, visit the Hachiko Statue, and explore Shibuya Shopping Street. You can also visit Shibuya Sky from here if you have not gone up either Tokyo Sky Tree or Tokyo Tower.	2 hours		20 mins
7:30 PM	Dinner	Enjoy a delightful dinner at one of the many restaurants in Shibuya. Try some popular Japanese dishes or explore international cuisine options.	1 hour		10 mins
8:30 PM	Shinjuku	Take a quick train from Shibuya to Shinjuku. Take a leisurely walk around Shibuya and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the city at night. Experience the bustling nightlife and admire the city lights.	1.5 hours		10 mins
10:00 PM	Ikebukuro	If you still have energy, you can ride the train to Ikebukuro	until end of day
